Stay where you love, in a home you’ll love

You love your street, your neighbours and your local schools. You just don’t love your house anymore. A knockdown rebuild lets you keep your location and start fresh with a brand-new home designed around the way you live now.

01

Knockdown rebuilds are popular in South Australia

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, South Australia approved 13,884 dwellings in knockdown rebuild projects between July 2019 and June 2025. Only about half were one-for-one replacements, the lowest share of any state, which means many South Australians are replacing one home with two or more.

How a knockdown rebuild works with us

01

1. Site review and feasibility

We look at your block, the planning rules and whether you could build one home or more.

02

2. Design

We design your new home, or homes, around your block and your lifestyle.

03

3. Engineering

We design footings and drainage for your site, taking into account old footings, trees and neighbouring homes.

04

4. Approvals

We manage the consents your project needs.

05

5. Demolition and site preparation

We coordinate the demolition, disconnection of services and site preparation. [CLIENT TO CONFIRM: whether demolition is in-house or subcontracted.]

06

6. Build and handover

We build your new home and hand over the keys.

03

Things to think about

We’ll help you plan for all of these.

  • Where you’ll live during the build
  • Disconnection and reconnection of services
  • Asbestos in older homes, which must be handled by licensed professionals
  • Trees, as some may be protected
  • Whether your block could fit two homes

Frequently asked questions

Do I need approval to demolish my home?

Since 2021, demolition approval isn’t required in SA for most homes unless the property is in a historic or heritage area, according to the ABS’s summary of the SA planning system. We’ll check what applies to your property.

Is knockdown rebuild cheaper than renovating?

Sometimes. It depends on your home’s condition and what you want to achieve. We can compare both options for you.
